Oxford House

To redesign the Indian Hotels Company Limited’s offices at Oxford House, Colaba.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) appointed ABM to redesign their new workspace at Oxford House in Colaba. The brief called for identifying key design elements from their existing offices and thoughtfully adapting them to the new setting. While the visual language remains consistent with their corporate identity, every element has been customized to suit the scale and character of the space. To meet the client’s requirements, the planning approach mirrors the layout of their current office: larger cabins along the periphery, centrally placed workstations, and a series of meeting rooms and telephone booths. The artwork program is fully customized, showcasing architectural landmarks of Mumbai.

ENTRANCE & STAIRCASE
The reception features a graphic marble floor paired with a refined veneer wall. The original staircase has been retained for its architectural value and refreshed with new marble cladding and curated artwork.

WORKSTATIONS
Workstations and partitions use a light oak laminate that gives the floor a bright, open feel. Each station integrates a writing board, softboard, fluted glass front, and Corian trim. The softboard’s orange accent complements the carpet’s color palette.

MEETING ROOMS
Meeting rooms on each floor are tailored to their specific user groups - some large, some intimate - while maintaining a consistent design language across sizes.

CABINS
All cabins follow a uniform design inspired by the head office, featuring a glass table, generous storage, focused task lighting, and a rust orange softboard.

DINING
The dining area draws from the design of the head office, incorporating a capsule-shaped ceiling profile with a graphic feature. New additions include tiled walls and bold, graphic artwork.

TELEPHONE BOOTHS
The telephone booths provide a quiet space for private calls, with fabric-paneled walls for acoustic comfort with a swivel chair.
WASHROOMS
Washrooms feature custom-printed, marble-look tiles with a strong graphic appeal. Counters, mirrors, and partitions are all designed as tailored elements.
