ANZ Grindlays Bank Branches, Mumbai

This is ABM Architects's first significant interior design project that won the firm its first design award. It's a 150 year old heritage building in South Mumbai.

ABM Architects was appointed to re-design the ground floor banking hall, and get it executed in 100 days while the bank was functional. The space offered great potential because of its height, its tall Corinthian columns and tall windows.

The new plan segregated the customer and processing zones.
The structure was strengthened and restored, the original moldings were re-created, the columns scrapped off its layers of old paint. Existing carved wooden panels were incorporated in the new counters. The cross-axis is emphasized with the suspended arch.
