Client's brief: To redesign the existing TajSATS office at Santacruz, Mumbai.
After completing the IHCL head office design, ABM was approached by TajSATS to revamp their Mumbai office.
Drawing inspiration from the IHCL project, ABM incorporated a similar design language, detailing, and finishes, blending elements related to food and aviation. A rust orange hue was woven throughout the space, appearing in various features such as carpet flooring, cushions, planters, glass films, office chairs, and pinboards.

Entrance
The double-height entrance lobby underwent a complete transformation. The original flooring was replaced with granite, seamlessly extending into the office interior. The staircase leading to the main office was preserved but enhanced with up-and-down lighting on the front feature wall.
At the top of the stairs, visitors are welcomed into an informal reception area with comfortable sofa seating. The office is divided into two wings: the main office and the executive section, both of which share access to a boardroom and a meeting room.
Boardroom
The boardroom features a blend of wall coverings and carpeting to enhance acoustics, complemented by glass and laminate surfaces. The glass is equipped with electrochromic technology, allowing it to switch between transparent and opaque with the push of a button.
Main Office
The main office layout mirrors the design of the IHCL office, with workstations positioned at the center and cabins along the perimeter. Airplane window-inspired artwork brings a unique charm to the space, and the telephone booth features a similarly shaped window, maintaining the cohesive design theme.
Cabins
The cabins are designed to be both comfortable and spacious, incorporating rust orange accents for a warm and vibrant touch. Ample storage is provided through full-height cupboards, punctured by pinboards for added functionality and convenience. The layout ensures a balance between practicality and aesthetics, creating a well-organized and visually appealing workspace.
Executive Area
This section is more secluded, offering privacy away from the main office. The executive cabins share a common workstation area. While the layout and furniture of these cabins remained unchanged, their appearance was refreshed with updated finishes.
Throughout the office, the artwork is a blend of food and aviation-themed photographs. In the executive area, a canvas print by Brinda Miller adds a refined touch, harmonizing with the overall color palette.
The transformation from the original office to the revamped space by ABM is remarkable, especially given the constraints of a tight budget. The project presented significant challenges but proved to be a highly rewarding experience.
