Client's brief: To elevate the aesthetic and functional appeal of the iconic Blue Sea Banquet space in Worli, Mumbai.
With a deep appreciation for the venue’s legacy, ABM undertook this transformation with a careful balance - modernizing the space while preserving its essence.
Location: Worli, Mumbai, India
Completed: October 2024
Total Area: 10,000 sq. ft.
Design Team: Rita Khare, Saish Khandekar and Kalpesh Suthar

ENTRANCE & OUTDOOR SPACE
The banquet previously lacked a defined entryway, so we introduced a striking ACP-clad portal, flanked by two oversized urns, to create a grand first impression. Beyond this gateway, the existing patio was repaved, enhancing both aesthetics and accessibility.
The building’s façade, which had deteriorated over time, was completely revamped, and new outdoor lighting was installed to improve its visual appeal. A secondary entrance into the main banquet was designed with a stepped portal, featuring double doors and an airlock for seamless functionality.
BANQUET
The banquet space underwent a sophisticated transformation, featuring new wall cladding, a fabric-clad accent wall, and an entirely redesigned ceiling.
The area beneath the mezzanine was reimagined as a flexible space for informal meetings, enhanced with mirrored paneling and a decorative metal jali, adding depth and style. A new, much-needed DJ console was also integrated to enhance event experiences.
The existing water feature and staircase were retained, but the lighting and décor were thoughtfully enhanced to complement the space.
MEZZANINE
Previously underutilized, the mezzanine now serves as a functional extension of the banquet. Additional seating was introduced to facilitate discussions, alongside a dressing room and washroom - essential additions for event hosting. The mirrored paneling with metal jali continues here, maintaining design continuity and adding depth to the room. Despite its compact size, the dressing room is designed for maximum efficiency, ensuring ample seating for users.
Though our interventions were minimal, they have collectively rejuvenated the Blue Sea Banquet, giving it a refreshed, sophisticated, and contemporary character while staying true to its iconic identity.
